The short answer

There is no single best app; it depends on what you need. If you want an app to tell you what to work on and track progress between range sessions, try an AI coaching app such as Teeo, GolfFix or Sparrow. If you work with a coach or want to study video yourself, V1 Golf and OnForm have the most complete video tools. If you want detailed 3D body measurements, Sportsbox 3D Golf goes deepest. For simple hands-free recording and replay, Swing Profile is easy to start with.

How we compared them

We are the team behind Teeo, so read this with that in mind. We compared each app on the things that matter most when you are new to golf: how easy it is to record a usable clip, whether the feedback tells you where to start, whether you can see progress over time, and what it costs. Feature and price details come from each app’s App Store listing in October 2026.

Teeo: one thing to work on, and progress across sessions

Teeo is an AI golf swing analyzer and practice companion for iPhone. It records your swings hands-free and trims each one automatically. AI review then picks one practice priority and a drill, instead of a long list of faults. Swings are kept by session, so you can compare clips side by side, review progress trends, and see what changed since your last range session. There is also a 3D body model for posture.

Where it is weaker: Teeo is new and iPhone-only, with a much smaller user base than the established apps. It has no marketplace of human coaches and no tour-player swing library. During the public beta, all features are free.

V1 Golf: the classic video analysis toolkit

V1 Golf has been a standard swing video app for years. It offers trimming, frame-by-frame playback, drawing tools, side-by-side comparison and overlays, a library of model swings from tour professionals, and skeletal tracking and ball tracing in V1 Golf Plus. Its biggest strength is the coaching network: you can send swings to a coach and receive voice-over lessons.

Where it is weaker for beginners: the tools assume you know what to look for. Unless you work with a coach, you have to decide yourself what is wrong.

Sportsbox 3D Golf: the deepest 3D measurements

Sportsbox turns a single phone video into a 3D model of your body and measures movements such as sway, turn, tilt and side bend. It compares your numbers with reference ranges from elite golfers, has a practice mode for measurable goals, and is widely used by coaches.

Where it is weaker for beginners: the amount of data can be a lot to interpret on your own. It suits golfers who like numbers or who work with a coach who uses Sportsbox.

GolfFix: AI fault detection with lessons

GolfFix records your swing and flags common swing issues with explanations and examples, plus shot-fix lessons for problems such as a slice or topping, tempo analysis and monthly reports. A free tier is available, with more analysis in the paid Advanced plan.

Where it is weaker: seeing many possible issues at once can make it hard to know which one to work on first. The free version shows ads.

Sparrow: real-time AI feedback at the range

Sparrow detects swings automatically and gives feedback in real time, compares your swing with a pro model, and tracks a score over time. It also offers drill videos and a personalized program.

Where it is weaker: it requires iOS 18 or later, and the App Store listing shows several different Pro Access prices, so check what you will pay in the app.

Swing Profile and OnForm: capture and coaching tools

Swing Profile is one of the simplest ways to film yourself: it detects the swing automatically, trims it to the motion, replays it in slow motion and can line up two swings side by side. OnForm is built for coaches and athletes in several sports, with high-speed recording, markup, voice-over, messaging and side-by-side or overlay comparison.

Neither focuses on telling a beginner what to fix. They work best if you already know what to look for or have a coach.

Which one should you choose?

  • You want to be told where to start and to see progress between sessions: Teeo, GolfFix or Sparrow.
  • You work with a coach or want a coach to review your swing: V1 Golf or OnForm.
  • You want detailed 3D body data: Sportsbox 3D Golf.
  • You only want to film and replay your swing: Swing Profile, or the free tier of most apps above.
  • You use Android: V1 Golf and GolfFix have Android versions. Teeo is iPhone-only for now.

Common questions

What is the best golf swing analysis app for beginners?

It depends on what you need. For a beginner without a coach, an AI coaching app that tells you one thing to work on and tracks progress, such as Teeo, is the easiest place to start. If you have a coach, V1 Golf or OnForm make it easy to share video. For detailed 3D data, Sportsbox 3D Golf goes deepest.

Is there a free golf swing analysis app?

Most apps here are free to download with paid upgrades. Teeo is free to download and all of its features are free during the current public beta. V1 Golf, GolfFix, Swing Profile and OnForm also have free versions with paid plans.

Do AI golf swing apps actually work?

They can help you see your swing and choose what to practice, but they depend on a clear recording and they are not a replacement for a good coach. Film from straight down-the-line or face-on with your whole body in frame, and treat the feedback as a starting point to test at the range.

Which golf swing app tracks progress over time?

Teeo keeps your swings by session with side-by-side comparison and progress trends. Sportsbox compares swings over time with 3D measurements, Sparrow tracks a score, and GolfFix sends monthly reports.

Record and review your swing for free on iPhone. Pro adds AI feedback, practice suggestions, and tools to revisit your progress.
